Why I am supporting XENOS
I first became aware of Xenos in 2008 in the course of a research on the history of the “study of foreigners” (“Ausländerstudium”) at the University of Bremen. I was impressed by the continuous support XENOS had been providing since 1984. Some years later we took over the files of the XENOS board into the archive. During the processing of these documents I again saw how important this form of help is for international students who receive neither a scholarship nor state support. I was also impressed by the willingness of people, mostly from the university, to assume responsibility towards young people in this way. So I decided to join the XENOS.
Beeing a member of the board and of the funding committee, from 2013 to 2023, I met many students from countries around the world who, despite unexpected difficulties, did not lose sight of their study goals. Based on this positive experiences I will continue to be involved in XENOS.
